Capitol Tree Lighting

For the first time since we've lived in Richmond, we went to the Virginia Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Capitol.

It was a cloudy day and had been raining lightly on and off, but we decided to go anyway.

And it poured down towards the end of the event. Literally poured buckets.

Luckily we brought a huge umbrella along.

The Governor, Bob McDonnell, spoke. He's a great speaker - funny too - but I honestly didn't think it was ever going to end. It was raining and getting cold, and the longer we stood there the colder and wetter it got.

Even with all that - it was crowded! Afterwards there was an open house at the Governor's Mansion - really wanted to go but we skipped out once we saw how long the line was to get in - didn't feel like standing in the rain any longer. Next year!
