A Capitol Sunset

Recently I was browsing through photos and culling images that I'd taken at the Virginia State Capitol when the "Lincoln" movie was in the works. We had been at the Capitol for a good part of the afternoon.

At the end of that day we went for a last walk around the grounds - a beautiful place. And when we rounded the corner towards the front of the Capitol, we saw this. The sunset was incredible! It stopped me in my tracks and I gazed at it for a long time before I even put the camera to my eye. The clouds really were that blazing pink as the sun went sliding down behind the horizon.

A really nice "nightcap" to the day.
